Class Rules
Soling is a One-Design Class. These rules and the official plans are intended to ensure that boats of this Class are as nearly alike as possible as regards shape and weight of hull and decking, shape and weight of keel, the shape of rudder, shape and area of the sail plan and in some other items which affect performance.
All boats shall be built in accordance with the plans, with the exception of spars, standing and running rigging, sheeting arrangements, rudder stock with bearing, tiller and tiller extension, lifting eyes, cleats and fairleads. These items and their fittings need not comply with the official plans but shall, in some cases, be controlled in other ways by the following rules.

Keel Report 2025
In Norway, there have been two incidents when lifting a Soling using the centre lift. Fortunately, neither of these incidents resulted to human injuries. The incident with NOR 103 resulted in severe damage to the boat.
The Norwegian Soling Association (NSA) decided to establish a Working Group (WG) to investigate the NOR 103 incident. The primary goals of this group are to understand the root cause for the incident, identify lessons learned, and share the information within the Soling community. The Soling fleet is aging, and it is likely that boats will require preventive maintenance to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future.
We welcome comments on NSA's Facebook page: "Norsk Solingklubb - Forum & Bruktbørs"
